Abstract: Very young children have basic capacities for thinking scientifically, but how do these abilities develop? And how are they influenced by children's other developing cognitive capacities? This talk will explore both how children learn to reason scientifically about sets of data and how they learn scientific content, specifically focusing on the role of imaginative processes in driving children's growth as scientific thinkers.
This event is co-sponsored by the Cognitive Science Program.
