Welcome to the Undergraduate Program in Psychology

The undergraduate psychology program at Lehigh offers students the opportunity to study how the mind and brain enable people to act, think, and feel. Students examine the cognitive, affective, social, and motivational processes that give rise to both functional and dysfunctional means of operating in our complex world. They also learn how these processes develop across the lifespan and about the physiological processes that underlie them. Students learn from highly accomplished faculty who are leading scholars in their fields and are committed to undergraduate education.

At the core of our program is a focus on psychology as a basic and applied science. Our program is designed to foster students’ critical thinking and scientific reasoning skills through exposure to cutting-edge psychological research, training in behavioral research methods and data analysis, and active research participation. Students are also prepared to consider the practical implications of psychological research in everyday life, including for improving psychological outcomes, addressing societal needs, and informing public policy.

Graduates of our program are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to study at the graduate level or to embark on careers in a wide range of fields, including business, education, health care, law, mental health and social services, and basic or applied research.
