Fall 2015
Congratulations to Almut Hupbach who was promoted to Associate Professor in May after the board of trustees meeting. This Fall she starts the exciting next phase of her career as a tenured faculty member in Lehigh's psychology department.
The department successfully hosted its conference honoring Donald Campbell on September 10 and 11.
The Lehigh survey, put together by a 4 member team including the department's own professors Burke, Moskowitz, and Packer, was administered to the entire institution. In winter the results detailing the insitutional climate will be posted.
Mark Bickhard was elected as a Fellow of The American Psychological Association, Division 7: Developmental Psychology. Congratulations to Mark!!
Mark was also the keynote speaker for Situating Cognition: Agency, Affect, and Extension at The Institute of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, on October 16, 2015, and delivered the talk “Representing as an agentive activity, not a structure” http://trends.avant.edu.pl.
Winter 2015
Jessecae Marsh was announced the winner of the prestigious College of Arts and Sciences teaching award. The ceremony honoring Dr. Marsh is March 26, 2015. CONGRATULATIONS!!
Three members of the department -- Lucy Napper, Amanda Brandone, and Jessecae Marsh -- are recipients of the Paul J. Franz, Jr. and Class of 1968 Junior Faculty Fellowships.
Almut Hupbach was in the news discussing the role of false memory in the case of suspended NBC News anchor Brian Williams' alleged false reporting relating to a 2003 helicopter downing in Iraq. Her OpEd originally appeared in The Conversation and then was reprinted by NewsWeek. Check it out! http://www.newsweek.com/brian-williams-bald-lies-or-false-m…
Faculty members Burke, Moskowitz, and Packer are leading the team of scientists to fashion the Lehigh response to the investigation held by the US Office of Civil Rights (OCR). An annual survey of Lehigh faculty, staff, and students is being constructed by the team, guided by the expertise in the psychology of prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination, and group relations from these psychology department scholars.
The department's offer of a new faculty position to Dr. Nancy Carlisle has been accepted! Dr. Carlisle will join the faculty in January 2016 and continue the department's growth and strength in the area of cognitive neuroscience. With interest in neuroscience on the rise among students at Lehigh, psychology is rising to meet this demand with the support of CAS and Dean Hall.
